I found his philosophy in the allegory of the cave very interesting and
realistic. I do feel that we are all prisoners of the mind and we
certainly don't know as well as fear what we have never seen before.
Even though at the time, Socrates was an outcast due to the
way he thought in today's era I would agree with him, and share his
pessimism toward life without philosophy.

Week 0
When I think of the word philosophy, I think of it meaning different ways of thinking and approaching any type of situation. It can be a problem or a game or even everyday tasks. In this course I would like to really fine tune what philosophy is all about and leave this course with a better sense of how to apply great philosophies into my life. What particularly intrigues me is learning different ways of thinking. Names like Socrates are only legends to me at this point. I am eager to learn more about what is behind the name and I am sure this course will provide me with that knowledge.
